Associate, Derivative Operations
Obra Capital is seeking an Associate, Derivatives Operations to join its New York office. Reporting to the Head of Operations, this role will support the firm’s growing credit platform and continued expansion into equity derivative securities. The Associate will be responsible for end-to-end middle office operational support across equity derivatives, including options, futures, forwards, synthetics, ETFs, and related instruments.
This position sits within the middle office and works closely with portfolio managers, traders, and internal infrastructure teams (Accounting, Finance, Tax, Compliance, and Legal), as well as external service providers and counterparties. The role requires a strong understanding of the trade lifecycle, operational controls, and valuation processes, with the ability to enhance reporting and operational workflows through data analysis and system optimization.
BELOW ARE A LIST OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Responsibilities
Support daily operational processes enabling portfolio management and trading activities across equity derivative strategies
Oversee the full trade lifecycle, including trade capture, confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation for equity derivatives
Liaise with traders, portfolio managers, counterparties, fund administrators, and third-party service providers to resolve breaks and operational issues
Review daily, monthly, and quarterly valuations, reconciliations, and position verification processes
Participate in cash management, collateral movements, margining, and liquidity monitoring
Execute departmental procedures and internal controls to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to operational standards
Prepare portfolio-, strategy-, and manager-level reporting, including analysis of holdings, performance, leverage, and risk exposures
Support onboarding, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of operational infrastructure, systems, and workflows
Partner with Operations and Finance to improve reporting, controls, and data integrity across positions, P&L, and exposure reporting
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field preferred
2-5 years of relevant middle office or operations experience within an alternative asset manager, hedge fund, or investment management firm
Hands-on experience supporting equity derivative settlement, valuation, and administration strongly preferred
Exposure to structured credit products (e.g., CLOs, ABS, RMBS, CMBS) is a plus
Experience working with portfolio and order management systems; Enfusion experience a plus
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, PivotTables, and data analysis
Familiarity with Bloomberg and financial market data platforms
Detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, trading-oriented environment
In accordance with New York State pay transparency laws the salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000 per year.
