Director of Accounting Policy

 

Obra Capital is seeking a Director of Accounting Policy to be based in our New York office. Reporting directly to the CFO of Obra Capital, the Director of Accounting Policy will be responsible for overseeing our accounting policies, interpreting complex accounting matters, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and relevant regulatory standards. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to support investment activities and strategic initiatives. This position will be full time in our New York office.

BELOW ARE A LIST OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Responsibilities

  • Lead the firm’s technical accounting function, including development of policies and memos.

  • Provide guidance on U.S. GAAP issues such as consolidation, fair value, and investment company accounting.

  • Evaluate accounting implications for new transactions and investment structures.

  • Stay ahead of regulatory and accounting standard changes, and lead implementation.

  • Act as primary liaison with external auditors on technical matters.

  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Investment teams to ensure accurate treatment and reporting.

  • Support financial reporting and disclosure processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting

  • CPA required

  • 10+ years of technical accounting experience (Big Four and/or buy-side experience preferred).

  • Strong expertise in ASC 946, ASC 820, and ASC 810.

  • Exceptional written communication and analytical skills.

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Excellent organizational and delegation skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines, and make sound decisions under pressure.

  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented mindset.


 

Salary range is $175,000 – $225,000. Salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role.
