Associate, Financial Modeling & Portfolio Analytics

 

Obra Capital is seeking seeking an Associate, Financial Modeling & Portfolio Analytics to join our New York office full-time. This role will be instrumental in supporting the Investment team with complex financial modeling, portfolio analytics, and strategy development. This individual will play a central role in constructing and maintaining models that drive portfolio decisions, investment forecasts, asset pricing, and performance reporting. The ideal candidate will bring deep Excel expertise, strong investment judgment, and a proven track record of building accurate, scalable models that support institutional capital deployment.

BELOW ARE A LIST OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Responsibilities:

  • Build, refine, and maintain detailed financial models to support asset-level pricing, portfolio valuation, cash flow forecasting, and scenario analysis

  • Conduct stress testing and return modeling for a range of longevity-contingent and insurance-linked investments

  • Evaluate new transactions and portfolio construction strategies in partnership with investment professionals

  • Analyze trends in performance drivers including mortality experience, premium obligations, and duration

  • Own and enhance Excel-based templates used for deal evaluation, portfolio monitoring, and investor reporting

  • Collaborate with internal analytics and data teams to automate and streamline modeling workflows

  • Translate model outputs into actionable insights and clearly communicate results to senior stakeholders

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field

  • 3+ years of professional experience in financial modeling, investment analysis, portfolio analytics, or a related role—experience in insurance-linked assets, structured finance, or actuarial modeling is a strong plus

  • Advanced Excel proficiency is required—ability to build dynamic, logic-driven models from scratch; experience with VBA/macros is a plus

  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, or other analytical tools is helpful but not required

  • Strong attention to detail, analytical rigor, and ability to translate complex data into investment insights

  • Clear communicator with the ability to synthesize modeling results for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Highly self-motivated, intellectually curious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced investment environment

 

Salary range is $110,000 – $130,000. Salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role
